Cash4Life draws take place every day. The draw time is 9pm Eastern Time.

The deadline for buying tickets is different in each state. In most locations it is less than an hour before the draw time. There is then a brief break before ticket sales reopen for the next draw.

You are required to pick five numbers from 1 to 60, plus an additional Cash Ball from 1 to 4. You can select your own numbers or opt for a Quick Pick if you would prefer to use a random set.

Cash4Life numbers are drawn from two separate sets of balls. The green Cash Ball is drawn from a pool of 1 to 4, so it is possible that it will be the same as one of the five main white balls.

You have to be at least 18 years old to play in each of the participating states.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 8. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 21,846,048.

Yes, if you win the jackpot you can choose to receive a lump sum of $7 million, or $1,000 a day for life. The second prize is $1,000 a week for life, or a one-off payment of $1 million.

If someone wins the first or second prize, payments are guaranteed for at least 20 years. If they die before 20 years have passed, the rest of the money goes to their estate.

The top prize is shared if there are multiple winners, while the second prize may also be reduced in exceptional circumstances when there is an unusually high number of winners. In some cases there may be no annuity option for either of the top two prizes.

The amount of time you have to claim a prize is decided by your state lottery. It varies between 180 days and one year in different jurisdictions.
