UK Player Wins £121.3 Million EuroMillions Jackpot
A lucky EuroMillions player from the UK became one of the game’s biggest ever winners last night after scooping an extraordinary jackpot of £121.3 million.
EuroMillions Results
The winning numbers on Tuesday 24th April were 20, 23, 28, 30 and 44, with Lucky Stars 3 and 7. There were 2.4 million players across the nine participating countries who picked up prizes, but only one ticket holder matched the full winning line. Go to the EuroMillions Results section to find a full prize breakdown.
Where did the Big Jackpot Come From?
The huge jackpot was put up for grabs last night as a result of a rollover in the EuroMillions Superdraw on Friday 20th April. In Superdraws, the jackpot is increased to a guaranteed amount (€130 million/£114 million) to generate excitement among players. Nobody won on Friday and the top prize could have kept rolling until it hit its cap of €190 million, but instead it was snapped up at the next opportunity.
Biggest Winners
The player who matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars last night is now ranked tenth in the list of the largest EuroMillions winners. They are also the third-biggest winners in UK lottery history, behind the Weirs and the Bayfords.
Colin and Christine Weir, from Largs in Ayrshire, hold the record for winning the largest UK jackpot after pocketing £161.6 million on EuroMillions in July 2011. Adrian and Gillian Bayford come in just behind on £148.6 million, having struck lucky in August 2012.
The latest winner will have to decide whether they wish to go public like the Weirs and the Bayfords, or claim their prize anonymously. They have 180 days to come forward and claim the money.
UK Success
The UK has now had 72 jackpot winners on EuroMillions since the game was launched in 2004, putting the country in third place in the table of the most successful nations. France is top on 87, followed by Spain on 85, but all nine countries have produced jackpot winners and there have now been 386 top prizes given away following the most recent result.
Next Jackpot
The jackpot will now reset to €17 million (an estimated £14 million) for the next draw on Friday, giving players another chance to become multimillionaires. With 12 other prize tiers and supplementary games such as the UK Millionaire Maker, there are plenty of ways to win big. You can take part online or by going to an authorised retailer in any participating country.
