French Loto Fans Gripped Ahead of Friday’s Grand Loto de Noel Draw
French Loto fans are preparing themselves for the arrival of Grand Loto de Noel, a draw described as the biggest jackpot event in the game’s history. The draw is scheduled to take place on Friday 22nd December and will offer a guaranteed multimillion-Euro top prize as well as a plethora of other delightful prizes.
What is Grand Loto de Noel?
Inspired by the legendary Spanish Christmas lottery El Gordo, Grand Loto de Noel is a new lottery draw and comes as part of the fresh Loto formula which was introduced by French Loto organiser FDJ in March 2017. The event is being heralded as one of the most exciting draws in the game’s history and tickets, which have been on sale since the 26th November, are still available to purchase online and from authorised retailers across France at a cost of just €5.
How is Grand Loto de Noel Played?
Grand Loto de Noel is played in exactly the same way as the regular French Loto game. Players are required to select five main numbers from a pool of 49 and an additional Chance number from a range of 1 to 10. In order to win the jackpot, players must match all five main numbers and the Chance ball, while eight further prize tiers are open to ticket holders who match fewer numbers.
Each entry will also include a unique alphanumeric code. Following the conclusion of the main Loto event, every code will be entered into a raffle-style draw, from which 100 will be randomly selected. Each of these codes will then receive a special prize.
What are the Grand Loto de Noel Prizes?
The major talking point of this event is definitely the €20 million jackpot on offer in the main lottery draw. Unlike regular draws, this sum will not roll over if it is not won; instead, the money will roll down and be shared amongst the winners in the next highest prize tier, most likely the Match 5 tier. The prizes on offer in the lower prize tiers will also be significantly enhanced, with rewards becoming two or even five times larger than in a normal draw.
The Loto Raffle also promises to reward lucky players this Christmas. The draw will lavish 100 ticket holders with €20,000 each, as opposed to the 20 winners that are crowned in a regular draw.
