EuroMillions Jackpot Won for Third Time in Four Draws

Friday evening saw the EuroMillions jackpot won for the third time in four draws as a French ticket holder landed a prize worth €28.2 million. The lucky player correctly matched the numbers 3, 7, 8, 14 and 49, along with Lucky Stars 5 and 8 to win the sizeable eight-figure sum.
 

The draw, which managed to produce a total of 2,155,272 prize winners, also proved to be a roaring success for a whole host of other fans, with three players (one Brit, one Spaniard and one Portuguese entrant) each collecting a Match 5+1 reward of €344,019 (£207,054), while five participants, four of whom purchased their tickets in the UK, walked away with €48,075 (£28,935) after matching five main numbers.

This is the second time in four draws that a French player has scooped the pan-European lottery game’s top prize, following a ticket holder who won €44.1 million on Tuesday 22nd August. As well as being a source of great joy for the French lottery-playing public, this latest win has further extended the republic’s position at the top of the EuroMillions Jackpot Winners’ table, with 87 of the 374 wins in total finding their way to France. The nation’s closest competition remains Spain with 82 wins, while the UK (68) and Portugal (66) are still some way adrift of the summit.

EuroMillions fans will be pleased to learn that this victory was the 15th of the year so far. This figure has increased dramatically over the last few weeks, with six wins coming in the space of just 11 draws. This follows a slow start to 2017 as just six ticket holders claimed the jackpot between Tuesday 3rd January and Tuesday 30th May; however, that time frame did include two jackpots worth in excess of €80 million (£70 million).
